Rosslyn King, B.Sc. (Hons), FD Professional Dance & Performance, ARAD


Born in Toronto, Canada, Rosslyn King studied at the Central School of Ballet in London, England, where she graduated with a Foundation Degree in Professional Dance and Performance from the University of Kent, as well as from the Professional Division at the Oakville School of Classical Ballet in Oakville, Canada. As a dancer, her credits include Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, and soloist roles in PaquitaThe Sleeping BeautyRaymonda, Grand Pas de Quatre, Swan Lake, and La Fille Mal Gardée. Rosslyn also attended courses at the Miami City Ballet School, Next Generation Ballet (FL), Kaatsbaan Dance Centre (NY), American Academy of Ballet (NY), School of Alberta Ballet, and Canada’s National Ballet School – Professional Division. As a child, Rosslyn’s performance credits included the National Ballet of Canada’s The Nutcracker; Noye’s Fludde (aired on CBC’s Opening Night) directed by Nicholas Goldschmidt; Elora Music Festival’s St. Nicholas Cantata; The York Centre for Children, Youth & Families with Michael Burgess, Jackalyn Short, and the Toronto Sinfonietta; and the Festival of Ontario’s Golden Jubilee Celebration for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.

In 2011, Rosslyn was a semi-finalist in the Genée International Ballet Competition in Cape Town, South Africa. She holds her Advanced 2 and Grade 8 awards with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Dance (England), her Level 11 Performance Award from the American Academy of Ballet, and a Grade 10 Piano and Elementary Piano Pedagogy certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada). She further holds a BSc. (Hons) with High Distinction from the University of Toronto, Trinity College in Cinema Studies and Biological Anthropology, where she was named a University of Toronto Scholar, a Provost Scholar of Trinity College, and was granted the Hugh Stephenson Memorial Scholarship, the Chancellor’s Scholarship of the St. Hilda’s Fund, and the Sir Daniel Wilson Award in Anthropology for her academic achievements.

Rosslyn is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance (ARAD), and further graduated with Certificate in Benesh Movement Notation (CBMN) from the Benesh Institute at the Royal Academy of Dance, making her one of only a handful of certified Benesh notators in Canada. Her credits include the world premiere production of MADDADDAM, choreographed by Wayne McGregor at The National Ballet of Canada, a co-production with the Royal Opera House.

As an actress, Rosslyn has trained in Toronto, New York, and London, including at the SITI Company training program at Skidmore College with SITI Artistic Directors Anne Bogart, Ellen Lauren, and Leon Ingulsrud and the members of the SITI Company; at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (Shakespeare); and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Musical Theatre), and her credits include Irina in The Three Sisters and Lady Anne in Richard III.

Her choreography credits include Effluo as a part of the Design for Dance Project at the Platform Theatre in London, England in collaboration with Central Saint Martins, and Elegie for the Central School of Ballet Choreography Platform, as well as movement choreography for Seven Siblings Theatre’s Fever/Dream.
